Relationship between postural stability and fall risk in young adult after lower limb muscle fatigue

چکیده

Introduction: Muscle fatigue can reduce body balance and activity of daily living tasks. Therefore, this study aims to identify the correlation between postural stability fall risk due muscle fatigue. The components in include Overall Stability Index (OSI), Anterior-Posterior (APSI), Mediolateral (MLSI).
Design Methods: A total seven healthy adults aged 31.1±7.4 years were recruited study. sit-to-stand (STS) protocol was used induce lower limb fatigue, while assessed using Biodex Balance System (BBS) before after Result: result showed a significant increase index only for OSI with p<0.05, no difference found on APSI MLSI p=0.157 p=0.109 respectively. However, mean score an percentage 47.8% OSI, 26.3% 46.8% MLSI. Furthermore, fall differences p=0.149, but data increased by 16.7% had negative (p<0.05). Conclusions: Based results, young reduced overall less affected positive indicated that their need be aware symptoms during prolonged exercise potential.

The Effect of Lower Extremity Muscle Fatigue on Dynamic Postural Control Analyzed by Electromyography
Purpose: Postural control preserves organs and body parts in a proper biomechanical stance which exists in two forms: static and dynamic. Fatigue is one of the factors that affects postural control. This study aimed to compare the electromyography (EMG) activity of the lower extremity muscles before and after fatigue. Methods: This study was descriptive correlational and based on the research ...
متن کاملRelationship between Muscle Function, Muscle Typology and Postural Performance According to Different Postural Conditions in Young and Older Adults
Although motor output of the postural function clearly influences postural performance in young and older subjects, no relationship has been formally established between them. However, the relationship between lower-extremity muscle strength/power and postural performance is often pointed out, especially in older subjects. In fact, the influence of motor output may vary according to the postura...

the relationship between proximal and distal lower limb muscle activities with time to stabilization
abstract introduction: identifying factors which cause the high incidence of acl is of great importance .the anterior shear forces are the primary mechanism of load sustained on the acl. during exercise, the activity of muscles and position of lower limbs may increase or decrease the anterior shear force. the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the activity level of...
